SUMMARY:Roundtable: Certified Organic
DESCRIPTION:Our Roundtable concept involves meeting with a small group of members who are willing to share their experience and knowledge on a specific topic. We develop themes based on common challenges and shared difficulties. When all participants strike a balance between giving and receiving information, we believe that a Roundtable discussion can be a very valuable experience for everyone involved.  \nIn this Roundtable session, we will focus on organic certification. In the Netherlands, there is a growing demand for organic products, with animal welfare and environmental impact among the main reasons consumers choose organic products (see Bionext). The EU organic logo makes it easier for consumers to identify organic products. It also confirms that products have been certified by an authorized inspection agency and that they meet strict requirements regarding production, transportation, and storage. This Roundtable is open to all our members who are interested in obtaining organic certification for their product(s) or who wish to share their experiences and lessons learned from completing the process.  \nThe following experts will participate in the Roundtable:– Steven IJzerman\, Quality Manager at Udea\, the wholesaler of organic foods for Ekoplaza – Stephan Blommendaal\, Purchasing Manager at Udea– Michaël Wilde\, Director at Bionext. Bionext is committed to promoting sustainable organic food and farming.– Johan Hoesen\, Specialist at Skal Biocontrole\, the independent organization responsible for overseeing the organic supply chain in the Netherlands.  \nIn this Roundtable session, we will cover the following topics, among others:– The organic market in the Netherlands—what are the main insights and challenges? – What are the rules and requirements for using the term “organic” in a product name?– How to prepare for the organic certification process? – Where am I allowed to sell my certified organic products? – What happens after successful certification? – What should I pay attention to during a Skal inspection? \nRegistration for this event closes on October 6.
