In this Live Session we will focus on the growth process from the very first steps of starting your own business to scaling it up successfully. A business passes through different stages as it slowly expands, with each stage coming with its own challenges – in this session we will look at strategies to overcome these challenges. Two food entrepreneurs will share their experiences, learnings, and plans for the future. Plus, we will also discuss the different approaches to a successful market entry in retails vs. food service and the importance of building a brand vs. a business.
About the experts
Eyan Chan – Eyan started making crispy chilli oil based on her mother’s recipe – first at home, then at our kitchen, before she moved to a bigger production facility. With her brand Chilli Chan’s she’s bringing crispy chilli oil and knife-cut noodles to supermarkets in the Netherlands, Germany and the UK. She will talk about the challenges of building a brand within a new category and what strategies she used to reach her goals – from being present at various food markets to hosting dumpling workshops and creating winning content on PR and Social Media.
Bart-Jan Veldhuizen – Bart-Jan founded Kitchen Republic in 2015, and started his artisan bakery business LÄCKER in 2023. His cinnamon, cardamom and pistachio buns quickly became one of the top selling products at Crisp and today are also available at various coffee shops such as Wakuli and Coffee Company, at museum cafés in Amsterdam, and more. Currently he is working on expanding his product range and getting into more food service businesses. Bart-Jan will share his learnings of the first year of LÄCKER and give interesting insights into building and scaling up a successful business.
