SUMMARY:Live Session: Dealmaking in Foodservice
DESCRIPTION:Let’s talk about foodservice! Selling your products at bars\, cafés and restaurants is a great way to raise brand awareness\, extend the reach of your brand and thus increase demand for your products. There are several success stories from brands that got listings at big retailers\, after first building a love brand in foodservice – because once you try something at a restaurant or café and you like it\, you’ll buy it later at the supermarket\, right? \nFoodservice however follows different rules than retail\, so in this Live Session we want to give you some tips & insights that can help you to win great listings.  \nThese are the topics that we will cover:– Selling to foodservice – how is it different from selling to retail?– How does the distribution to foodservice work?– Who are the main players in the Netherlands when it comes to distribution?– What drives the buyers to purchase & what do they need from you?– How do you calculate prices & margins?– And of course\, all the mistakes you can make when getting started within foodservice. \nAbout the expertsMarcel Gonzalez joined Bidfood as a Sales Manager back in 1995. Today\, as their Innovation Manager\, he is responsible for all new product launches. As a sparring partner for the hospitality industry he is always on the lookout for new food concepts\, with the goal to make the hospitality industry more successful in a creative way.  \nRogier Moes knows how to approach foodservice – and he will share his tips on how to win your dream deal. His previous work experience includes Heineken and Vrumona\, one of the largest soft drink producers in the Netherlands. In his current job Rogier is a consultant at Gwynt\, helping companies to expand\, grow or simply be more successful at what they do.  \nAgenda17.30 – 18.15 Walk-in and welcome to get a bowl of soup18.15 – 19.30 Q&A “Dealmaking in Foodservice” 19.30 – 21.00 Community borrel Please RSVP before October 20.

SUMMARY:Roundtable: Certified organic
DESCRIPTION:Our Roundtable concept is about meeting up with a small group of members who are willing to share their experience and knowledge about a certain topic. We create themes around popular challenges and shared difficulties. When all participants balance giving and taking of information\, we believe that a Roundtable discussion can be a very valuable experience for every participant.  \nIn this Roundtable session\, we will focus on the bio certificate. In the Netherlands there is an increasing demand for organic products\, with animal welfare and the environmental impact amongst the main reasons for consumers to buy organic products (see Bionext). The EU organic logo makes it easier for consumers to identify organic products. And it confirms that products have been certified by an authorized control agency and that they fulfill strict requirements regarding production\, transport\, and storage.  This Roundtable is open for all our members that are interested in getting their product(s) organic certified or want to share their experience and learnings from completing the process.  \nThe following experts will join the Roundtable:– Steven IJzerman\, Quality Manager at Udea\, the wholesaler of organic foods for Ekoplaza – Stephan Blommendaal\, Purchasing Manager at Udea– Michaël Wilde\, Director at Bionext. Bionext is committed to promoting sustainable organic food and farming.– Johan Hoesen\, Specialist at Skal Biocontrole\, the independent organization for the supervision of the organic chain in the Netherlands.  \nIn this Roundtable session we will cover the following topics\, among others:– The organic market in the Netherlands – what are the main insights & challenges? – What are the rules & requirements for using the term organic in the product name?– How to prepare for the organic certification process? – Where am I allowed to sell my organic certified products? – What happens after the successful certification? – What to pay attention to during a Skal inspection? \nRegistration for this event ends on October 6. You can submit your questions/topics of interest upfront when signing up. We’re looking forward to an interesting discussion!

SUMMARY:Meet the Expert x Brand Protection
DESCRIPTION:Your brand is your company’s most valuable asset. It is much more than just a design or a logo. But did you know that without a valid trademark registration you can’t claim a right to your brand name or logo? That makes solid brand protection in the countries where you produce and/or sell your products essential. On the other hand\, brand protection in an area that is too wide leads to unnecessary risks and may even result in you losing your rights. In this “Meet the Expert” session you’ll have the opportunity to ask all your brand protection related questions in 1-on-1 sessions with the experts of Kilburn & Strode. You will get a 45 minute time slot to discuss the specific topics you are interested in. You will be able to ask questions such as:– What do I need to consider when choosing my brand name and logo?– Do I really need to protect my brand?– Is my brand safe once I get a trademark registration?– How does it work if I want to export to other countries?– How do I ensure that my trademark remains as strong as possible?– What can I do if I find out about a trademark violation?About the ExpertsKilburn & Strode is specialised in global Intellectual Property law\, in particular in the field of patents and trademark registration. They are protecting brands in the Netherlands\, but also in Europe and the rest of the world. Their specialised trademark attorneys have extensive experience in the field of availability searches\, application and registration procedures worldwide\, oppositions\, infringement cases and portfolio management in various industries\, including the food & drink sector. Diversity and inclusiveness are of paramount importance to Kilburn & Strode\, and a percentage of their profits is donated annually to innovative charities. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThese are the experts from Kilburn & Strode that you’ll meet:– Claudia Festen\, Partner in the trademarks team. She handles a wide variety of trademark and design matters in Benelux\, the EU and abroad.– Marit Blom\, Paralegal in the firm’s Hilversum office. She brings over 18 years of experience in the world of trademarks and designs. – Celina Özcan\, Trainee Trademark Attorney. Celina is fluent in Dutch\, English and Turkish\, and uniquely placed to assist clients on a Dutch\, British and European level.Registration for this session closes on September 13. If you submit the specific questions/topics you’re interested in\, we can make sure to match you with the right expert.
